Star Group is proudly part of Burger Wellington, and this year's Word of Mouth theme is inspiring our 21 seriouslyconversation-starting creations.
Head to Master Kong for the Ayam Mouth cracker.Anything but subtle, this burger brings the heat with an Indonesian-stylemarinated chicken patty, avocado jalapeño crema and fiery sambal, and the funtoo with popping candy that crackles in your mouth. Crunchy slaw and a briochebun round out this textural treat, and it’s served with a side of crab rangoonwontons.
Fox Glove’s Hot Gossip! burger builds on the ideathat everyone knows everyone in Wellington - IYKYK. It’s spicy, bold, and alittle bit scandalous, with a perfectly cooked beef patty, Swiss cheese andsmoked jalapeño mayo. This is perfectly paired with pickled red onion, shreddediceberg lettuce and a Pōneke Bakery brioche bun.
La Mortadella at Huxley’s nods to the CBD favourite’s Italian roots, reimagined through a burger lens. A tender beef patty is paired with provolone cheese, mortadella, garlic butter and gremolata mayonnaise.Rocket and pickled fennel add a hit of freshness, all between a sesame seed milk bun. Polenta fries, grated parmesan, and pizza dipping sauce are all accompaniments Nonna would love.
Over at Flamingo Joe's, the team had a hard act to follow after last year's popular burger made with pink doughnut buns. This year, they're switching things up once again with the Joe Told Me: glazed misobutter waffles on either side of chilli maple-glazed Southern fried chicken, proving once again they're not afraid to have a bit of fun and lean into the power of word of mouth. Once you’ve tried this one, you’ll want to telleveryone about it.
The Cali’s Calling burger at Rosie’s Red Hot Cantinas layered and punchy. The beef patty is taken to the next level with a beef and queso croquette, burger sauce and secret green sauce. Intriguing. A crispyfried mini tortilla, McClure’s bread n butter pickles and pickled pink onion supply zingy crunch. Curious to try? Tell a friend.
For a taste of Irish-inspired comfort, head to The Green Man Pub for the Dublin Drip. Inside this hearty burger, a saucy beef patty and bacon are doused in whiskey peppercorn sauce and Murphy’s braisedonions, all held between a pillowy milk bun. Served with beef fat roasted potatoes, this is a burger that’ll warm you despite any chilly Wellington wind.
