Regatta Bar & Eatery is getting a new look, closing from Wednesday 23 September for a month-long transformation ahead of summer.
With its prime position on The Strand overlooking Takapuna Beach, Regatta first opened in 2015 and this will be its first major renovation.
The refurbishment will span the entire 300-capacity venue, with a full refresh of the interior and exterior alongside an exciting new food and beverage menu.
Designed by Studio Tatami, the new-look Regatta will have a refined, understated feel, drawing on classic New Zealand sailing clubs and 60s and 70s coastal resorts. Warm timber will be paired with navy, cream and sun-faded terracotta, with branding kept deliberately restrained.
The refreshed direction elevates the waterfront bistro and terrace bar, designed to evolve long lunches into lingering afternoons and sunset drinks by the ocean.
Regatta is owned and operated by Star Group, one of New Zealand’s largest hospitality groups. The renovation follows the successful opening of fellow Star Group venue Goldie’s Bar & Yard in Takapuna in May, marking two significant investments in the neighbourhood in quick succession.
“Regatta has always had one of Auckland’s most special waterfront locations, but after more than a decade we felt it was the right time to give the venue the upgrade it deserves,” says Star Group Head of Growth Isabella Van Heusden.
“We want to make the most of everything the location offers and create an experience that goes beyond the view - somewhere you’d arrive for lunch and find yourself still there as the sun goes down.”
Regatta Bar & Eatery will reopen in late October, just in time for summer.
